ISPM-15 is a global phytosanitary mandate requiring all wooden packaging in international trade — pallets, crates, boxes, and dunnage — to be heat-treated and stamped with the official wheat-sheaf mark before crossing any international border. |
Heat Treatment (HT) — raising wood core temperature to 56°C for 30 continuous minutes — is the only globally accepted ISPM-15 treatment. Methyl Bromide (MB) fumigation has been phased out by the EU, USA, Australia, and most major importers since 2016 due to its environmental impact.
Greenstrand exclusively uses Heat Treatment. MB-treated packaging is rejected at customs in most key automotive export markets. If your current packaging supplier is still offering MB treatment, your export risk is significant and you should switch to HT-certified packaging immediately.
The EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) entered general application on 12 August 2026. It applies to all transport packaging including wooden pallets, crates, boxes, dunnage, and IBCs — with new requirements for recyclability, recycled content, and waste reduction. |
A wooden pallet is an open flat platform for stacking and forklift handling of components that don’t need enclosed protection. A wooden crate is a fully or semi-enclosed structure that shields components from impact, dust, moisture, and handling damage — essential for precision-machined parts, high-finish surfaces, and single high-value assemblies. |
Greenstrand packages automotive and engineering components from 10 kg precision parts to 10-ton industrial assemblies — including engine assemblies, transmissions, gearboxes, knuckle assemblies, axle shafts, CNC-machined components, casting and forging parts, electrical panels, brake systems, and complete mechanical sub-assemblies. |
Seaworthy packaging for automotive parts must include: ISPM-15 heat-treated wooden crates or boxes, VCI anti-corrosion film lining, desiccants for moisture control, internal dunnage and timber blocking, metal strapping or banding, and reinforced pallet bases rated for container floor loading pressures. |
CNC machined parts require packaging that prevents surface contact, vibration damage, and moisture corrosion. Greenstrand uses custom-fit wooden crates with precision-cut interior timber blocking, VCI anti-rust film wrapping for all metal surfaces, individual component dunnage dividers, and fully sealed crates for ocean freight. |
